     Parmenas Barnes married Julia Hughes, daughter of Stephen Hughes and Prudence Newton, in August 1843 in Enfield, Hartford County, Connecticut.1 Their children were born at Westfield, except the eldest who was born at West Granville: Newton Stephen; 3 July 1844, Anson Carlisle; 19 April 1848, Goodwin; 6 August 1852, and Ida Ella; 13 October 1856.1 Parmenas was working in the blacksmith business for thirty-four years, but then went to farming in Westfield, MA..1

     Sarah A. Hughes married James Lyle Alexander on 24 November 1842 in Stanton, Augusta County, Virginia.1 They had seven children: Margaret Pauline, born 24 October 1843; James Stephen, 13 June 1846; John William, 2 April 1849 and died 18 April 1849; Bessie A. J., born 4 July 1850; Archibald Lyle, born 28 June 1853 and died February 15, 1857; Gannett Reed, born 18 April 1856; and Julia S. L., born 8 March 1859.2
In 1861, Sarah moved to Lewisburgh. Moved when the Civil War commenced and being unionists, they suffered great hardships.2

     James Lyle Alexander was born on 18 April 1808.3

     James Lyle Alexander married Sarah A. Hughes, daughter of Stephen Hughes and Nancy Crosby, on 24 November 1842 in Stanton, Augusta County, Virginia.3 They had seven children: Margaret Pauline, born 24 October 1843; James Stephen, 13 June 1846; John William, 2 April 1849 and died 18 April 1849; Bessie A.      Ernest Diedrich Wilhelm Piepenbrink was born on 15 March 1841 in Germany.5 He was the son of Ernst Diedrich Piepenbrink and Ilse Marie Christine Sophie Witte.4 Ernest Diedrich Wilhelm Piepenbrink immigration on the same ship as Ernst Diedrich Piepenbrink and Ilse Marie Christine Sophie Witte on 1 July 1846 at New York City, New York, They arrived on the vessel Bark Republic, from Bremen. Charles Piepenbrink and family list Fort Wayne as their destination. The boat log shows Ernest, age 44, Sophia, age 38, Charlotte, as 11, Friedh Wilh, age 10, Carl Heinr, age 7, Ernst Diedr, age 5, Maria Louise, age 6 mo., Sophia Maria, age 6 months. Ernest's brother, Conrad, was living in Fort Wayne at this time. Also, traveling with them was Marie Witte, age 50 or 5. Most of the people on this boat were headed to Ft. Wayne.1 Ernest Diedrich Wilhelm Piepenbrink survived the death of his mother, Ilse Marie Christine Sophie Witte, who died. In the Adams Township, Allen County, Indiana, census dated 19 November 1850, Ernest Diedrich Wilhelm Piepenbrink, shown as Ernst Pepenbrink, is listed in the household of Ernst Pepenbrink. He is eight years old and was born in Germany.6

     Ernest Piepenbrink is living with John P. Dreebeliss, age 31, and Anna Dreebellis, age 31, in Huntington, Indiana. Ernest Piepenbrink is 19 years old and working as an app shoemaker. John P. Dreebelliss occupation is Master Shoemaker. In 1850, Ernest's father was shown as a Shoemaker.7

     Ernest Diedrich Wilhelm Piepenbrink married Elizabeth Faber.5

     OBITUARY: Ernest C. Piepenbrink, 75 years old, died at the home of his son Charles in Huntington Thursday. Death was due to a stroke of apoplexy suffered Wednesday night. The deceased was born in Germany, March 15, 1841. He moved to this country when he was five years old, settling near New Haven. He moved to Huntington in 1859. He married Miss Elizabeth Faber, and to this union nine children were born. Five of the children survive him. They are Mrs. Nora Rber, of this city; Henry, Charles, and Edward Piepenbrink, of Huntington, and Leonard Piepenbrink, of Indianapolis. His wife died six years ago last January. Two brothers, Charles Piepenbrink and Christopher Piepenbrink and two sisters, Mrs. Sophie Woebbeking and Mrs. Mary Fahlsing, of this city, also survive. Mrs. Catherine Strodel, of this city, is a sister-in-law to the deceased. Mrs. Charles Piepenbrink, a daughter-in-law, was formerly Mis Bertha Reinkensmeier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christ Reinkensmeier. Mr. Piepenbrink was a shoemaker by trade and ran several shoe shops in Huntington since settling there. He was a civil war veteran; having been a member of company F, Forty-seventh Indiana volunteers. Funeral services at Huntington from the residence of Saturday at 2 o'clock.8
