     OBITUARY: Lola V. Newell, 86, of Sherrodsville, died April 7 in Park Village Health Care Center, Dover, following an extended illness. Born Sept. 24, 1904, in Union Twp., she was a daughter of the late Jasper and Rebecca Scott. She was employed in the family business, Newell Oil Co., until she retired in 1970. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and Carroll County Historical Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman H. Newell, Nov. 26, 1980; a sister, May Miller; a brother, Roy Scott; and a grandson, Denny Newell. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Warren (Evelyn) Davy of Sherrodsville; a son, Herman J. "Bud" Newell of Sherrodsville; four sisters, Ethel Scott of Carrollton, Pearl Houze of Minerva, Grace Cooper of Trenton, Fla. and Marie Cognion of Coshocton; three brothers, Thomas Scott of Leavittsville, Raymond Scott of Sarasota, Fla., and Ray Scott of Hanoverton; five grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. Services were held Wednesday in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home with Rev. C. King Wynkoop officiating. Burial was in Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens. Reed Funeral Home, Canton was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made in her name to the Bethesda Lutheran Church.1
