Tenn or nortern Alabama as it became latter.  After all 13 children were born they moved early in 1839 to Johnson Co Ark. and settled on Horseshoe Creek in a home located on the road from Ft. Smith to Little Rock.  When the Ryan family moved to Arkansas where Meriwether Lewis had said the farming land was very excellent and the first new neighbors they met were the Lewises.  That same spring Irene Ryan my mother married George Rex Lewis my father.)
