Jane Newcomb, my mother's sister, born Cathcart, was married to Samuel Scott Newcomb, and in the spring after I was aged 10 in the fall, I went to live with them and I made my home with them approxiately two years. Hw was always called Scott Newcomb....I knew of the death of Aunt Jane Newcomb, the name she carried here after her return, tho she had married while gone. I knew of her death and attended her funeral. She was buried in the cemetery at Pepin, Wis. She died in the town of Canton, Buffalo Co., Wis. She was at first buried in the North Branch Cemetery, for the roads were in such condition that they could not get to Pepin to bury her; and in the summer, when the roads could be used, her body was taken up and she was buried in Pepin Protestant cemetery, by the side of her husband Newcomb and their son Chauncey Hobart Newcomb, always called Hobart.) Albert Tasker1

     Albert Tasker was born in 1840 in New York City, New York.1

     Albert Tasker married Mary Tierman, daughter of John Freeman and Mary Caffrey, on 29 November 1865 in New York. They married on November 29, when Mary was 22 years old and Albert was 25 years old. The date was etched in Mary's wedding ring, but the year is illegible. It appears as Nov. 29, 186?. Mary remembers that the Civil War was going on at the time. Albert Tasker was not in the service. He was a bookkeeper in a broker's office.1,2,3

     Albert Tasker died on 25 February 1874 in New York of consumption. He was living on Delancey Street between Broome and Torney Street when he died.1,3 He is buried Cavalry Cemetery, New York. He was buried on his granfather's lot beside his three children. One son was named Albert after his father. One girl was named Lillian and the last son was also named after their father.4
