It is an assumption due to his age, birth location, and being unable to find him in a census, that this is the correct John Scott. An unknow John Scott, age 17 and an unknown G. B. Scott, age 8 are also living with them. Perhaps John Scott, age 17, is really the John Scott, age 9. If this is Charles A. then he is listed as 26 years old and was born in Ohio.7 Before 1865, Charles was working as school teacher in Carroll county before going to the civil war.

     Susanna Yant was born on 22 January 1834 in Carroll County, Ohio.3 She was the daughter of Samuel Yant and Susanna Runyon.1

     Susanna Yant married Thomas Q. Scott V, son of John Scott II and Mary Foster, on 28 October 1853 in Cannonsburg, Hancock County, Ohio.4,5,1 In the Rose Township, Carroll County, Ohio, census dated 13 June 1870, Susanna Yant, shown as Susanna Scott, is listed in the household of Thomas Q. Scott V. She is 37 years old, keeping house and was born in Ohio.6 In the Harrison Township, Carroll County, Ohio, census dated 9 June 1880, Susanna Yant, shown as Susana Scott, is listed in the household of Thomas Q. Scott V. She is 46 years old and was born in Ohio, as were her parents. She is listed as wife and Keeping House.7 Susanna Yant survived the death of her husband, Thomas Q. Scott V, who died on 8 September 1897.8 Susanna Yant died on 29 November 1904 at Carroll County, Ohio, at age 70. She died at the home of her son, John B. Scott. She was a quiet, home-loving Christian woman who made the best of such as she had and gave liberally to herself to her children and friends.3,9 She is buried in the Union Valley Cemetery located in Rose Township, Carroll County, Ohio. The funeral being conducted by the Methodist protestant pastor of Dellroy.3

     Charles M. Scott was born on 15 September 1857 in Monroe Township, Carroll County, Ohio.1 He was the son of Thomas Q. Scott V and Susanna Yant.3,1 In the Rose Township, Carroll County, Ohio, census dated 13 June 1870, Charles M. Scott, shown as Charles M. Scott, is listed in the household of Thomas Q. Scott V. He is 12 years old, works on the farm, and was born in Ohio.6 In July 1880, Charles was living in Dellroy, Carroll County, Ohio.4

     Charles M. Scott married Anne E. Gimeson, daughter of William Gimeson and Mary, on 18 July 1880 in Freedom, Owen County, Indiana. Married by Rev. James Denny.4 Charles M. Scott survived the death of his father, Thomas Q. Scott V, who died on 8 September 1897.2 Charles M. Scott was living at West Lafayetter, Coshocton County, Ohio, at the death of his brother, Lank A. Scott on 22 June 1911.7 Later in 1918, Charles M. Scott was living in Buffalo, Guernsey County, Ohio.1

     Charles M. Scott died on 18 March 1924 in Buffalo, Guernsey County, Ohio, at age 66. His obituary stated he was 70 years old.5 He was survived by an adopted son, living near buffalog, three sisters; Mrs. Alice bowers and Mrs. James guy, Canton, and Mrs. J. Allen, Palermo; two borthers, W. C. of Cleveland and John Scott of Carrollton, and two grandchildren.5 Charles died stomach aliments.5

Later became National Organizer for the United Mine Workers of America and then editor of the The Mine Workers Journal, published at Indianapolis, Indiana. He entered the employment of the Canadian Pacific Railway, April 1901, as General Fuel Inspector and later was made Lake Forwarding Agent for same company, with headquarters at Cleveland, Ohio, May 6, 1896, to which union was born two sons, Wayne G., now a senior in Augusta Military Academy, Fort Defiance, Virginia, and Stanley T. at home in 1917, Cleveland, Ohio. In 1924 he was living in Cleveland, Ohio.

     Ruth Anna Scott died on 9 January 1929 in Harrison Township, Carroll County, Ohio, at age 75; In the death of William C. Scott there has been removed from earth one of our best citizens and most noted of pioneers.14,9,15 She is buried Scott (New) Cemetery, Carroll County, Ohio. Funeral services for Mrs. Beamer were held Saturday morning in charge of Rev. Sanders.16 Ruth died complications of diseases.9
